The master's degree in Cinema and Photography at the University School of Media Arts and Design (ESMAD) at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) promotes the development of skills in research, theoretical conceptualization, artistic creation and project practice, with the aim to form professionals with higher qualifications in the fields of cinema (documentary, experimental and fiction genres) and photography.

The course stands as a quality reference in its fields, combining artistic vocation with technical demand. It counts on modern facilities and equipment, providing the students with the technological and logistical means to carry out ambitious academic projects, with the support of a qualified and experienced teaching staff.

The graduate will have professional skills in the different areas of cinema and photography: directors, producers, directors of photography, sound directors, editors, technicians from different audiovisual departments in cinema, television and advertising, photographers, image consultants and editors, image office professionals, researchers and teachers in the areas of audiovisual communication, cinema, photography and aesthetics.

Holders of a Bachelor's degree organized in 180 ECTS or legal equivalent; holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process; holders of a foreign higher academic degree, which is recognized as meeting the objectives of the degree by the Technical-Scientific Council; holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies; holders of a Two-Level Degree or Degree organized in 300 ECTS or legal equivalent.
